QUESTIONS
TO ASK WHEN CHOOSING A HOME INSPECTOR What
qualifications does the inspector have? Tony
has decades of experience - building, renovating and restoring homes. He
knows how Victoria homes work, and how they age. He is Certified by the
Home Inspection Institute of America and a member of several Home Inspection associations.
How
long is the average inspection? Two
to four hours. Do
you inspect to the Standards of Practice of the Home Inspection Industry or higher?
Yes.
How
much do you charge?
The
BC average is $400 to $500 for a single family home. $375 for condos without
special circumstances.
May
I attend the inspection?
Of course, but
we will not be able to talk intelligently about the home until we have had
time to thoroughly inspect. We find it is most effective and efficent if you
join us onsite for a "walk through" after we have had time
to inspect. This way we can provide the information you need in an organized
manner.
Will I get my
written report on the same day?
Yes,
either in hard copy or electronic format. What
is your report like? Written
narrative report with color photographs. You get an extensive examination
and description of all the important systems of the home. Our report includes
photographs of home components on Compact Disc. Can
your send reports electronically? The
narrative version can be sent electronically or faxed. Can
you provide approximate costs for repairs and improvements?
Yes,
we can. But in a real estate transaction it is often advisable to get
three quotes from reputable contractors.
Does All-Points
home Inspections test for Radon Gas?
No, Victoria is considered a low Radon Gas area.
Do
you solicit, receive or give referral fees?
No.
Can I call
you, at a later date, for information or advice?
Yes,
you can. And at no cost. What
is your availability? We
can usually schedule an inspection within 48 hours, Monday through Saturday.
Do you carry Insurance?
Yes.
Errors and omissions insurance and general liability insurance.
Are you willing to
invoice my relocation company?
Yes. Can
you provide references?
Yes. NEXT
